No.1 Nottingham Science Park Project

This room that was to undergo treatment is used as a meeting room.  The room is constructed of very hard and reflective materials including 2 long walls of glazing, a hard tiled floor, concrete roof and 2 plasterboarded walls.  Because the room has such hard surfaces and no soft materials in the form of furniture or curtains the room suffered from an extremely long reverberation time which make conversation very difficult and long meetings would be fatiguing.

When the room was used for meetings even with the room full of people the reverberation time was still not improved enough to make conditions easier.  It was getting to the stage where meetings would be conducted in other areas because it was felt that the room wasn't productive enough.

Once we had installed discreet acoustic treatment on the walls and small amounts on the ceiling the improvement was staggering.  Meetings are now more constructive and the room is used more often as exactly as it was intended.  We discussed the requirements with the developer to ensure that the acoustic panels we installed were in keeping with the current feel of the rest of the project and the architecture of the rest of the building.  Once a relatively small amount of acoustic treatment was installed in what is a large and very reflective room the echo reverberation was tamed to a degree where civilised conversations and meetings can be held.

nv De Scheepvaart Boardroom and Reception Area Project

The acoustics in the reception area of this building were very difficult to cope with.  With so many hard surfaces in the room from the solid floor, hard cabinet doors and painted ceiling receptionists found it difficult not only to converse with people over the phone but also to have a civilised conversation with a propsective client stood 2 feet  away from them.  The acoustics of the reception area gave a very poor  impression of a large, precise and professional company.

So acoustic treatment was needed that kept the theme of the reception area, that of ships and the outside world, hense the clouds on the ceiling and the reeds on the wall with the reception desk as the ship.  The custom shaped round aocustic panels we susended on heavy duty wire to give the feel of floaing clouds.  The visual result is very effective as well as the acoustics of the reception area being greatly improved.

The boardroom was also a cause for concern.  Meetings were not productive and many people complained of fatigue and headache after sitting in the room for periods of time.  So it was celar that acoustic treatment was a must for the rooms acoustics problem to be solved.

From the start it was mage clear that plain fabric panels would not give the effect they were trying to acheive so the project required ArtControl Panels with supplied artwork that would result in the completion of one large image split into ten pictures along with other ArtControl Panels around the rest of the room.

Needless to say the acoustic of the boardroom was greatly improved and prodcutivity of meetings increased instantly with staff beingmuch happoer with the environment they were to work in.  A happy workforce and a company that saw increased productivity resulted meant the project was well worth the investment.
