This product is a recycled rubber soundproofing material designed to upgrade the sound insulation properties of party walls in the home and all types of domestic properties. It is the ideal solution to insulate a noisy neighbour with the minimum loss of room space using this new concept for soundproofing walls. M20 acoustic membrane is specifically designed to absorb and reduce airborne noise through party walls. It is extremely effective when applied to single skin walls such as breeze, brick or studwork partitioning. These panels are ideal for improving the soundproofing performance of domestic party walls and lightweight stud partitions. It is easy to install and can produce excellent results for a minimal 50mm of space. The insulated wall shown in the detail at the right of this page had a sound insulation value of 48dB DnT,W+Ctr which is generally an 8dB - 10dB improvement which is approximately an 87% reduction in sound transmission and complies with the requirements of the latest Approved Document E Building Regulations. It is therefore, ideal for insulating walls separating stairs and hallways where space is at a premium.

It is essential that there are no holes in the existing wall. The most common source of noise leakage is where the flooring and ceiling joists are fixed. The wall should be as airtight as is physically possible. The insulation is simply bonded onto the wall with our adhesive and the plasterboard is bonded to the panels in the same way. Where necessary, the insulation is easily cut with a sharp knife or jig-saw. Once applied it should be left overnight for the adhesive to cure. It may be necessary to support the insulation during this time. When the insulation is securely stuck, two layers of 12.5mm plasterboard should be glued on top with the same adhesive. Even greater noise reduction can be obtained if the treatment is applied to BOTH sides of the wall.

The membrane itself is only 20mm thick and arrives in sheets 1000mm (39.25") by 1000mm (39.25")
