Reduce TV Noise and Voices Through Stud Party Walls

Our Essential Stud Wall Soundproofing System is a simple and effective way to reduce everyday airborne noise such as TV sound and conversation through existing plastered stud walls. Using two layers of 5kg MLV (soundproofing mat) and two layers of 15mm Acoustic Plasterboard, it provides a high-mass upgrade with a slim overall build-up.

To make things easier, our online calculator does all the hard work for you by working out the quantities required for your project, with an additional 5% already allowed for waste, helping ensure you have everything needed to complete the installation.

Everyday Airborne Noise Reduction for Timber Stud Walls

Our Essential Stud Wall Soundproofing System is designed to improve the sound insulation of existing plastered stud walls, particularly where the main issue is airborne noise such as talking and TV noise transferring through a separating wall. It’s a great choice if you want a straightforward, DIY-friendly upgrade without moving to a clip/channel independent wall system.

The build-up consists of:

The finished build-up is approximately 40mm overall.

Important Supply Information

All components required for this system are supplied by us as part of the calculator output. You do not need to source additional system materials separately.

How the System Works

This system improves sound insulation by adding high-mass soundproofing materials directly to the wall surface.

  • The two layers of 5kg MLV add dense mass to help reduce airborne sound transmission
  • The two layers of 15mm Acoustic Plasterboard further increase mass and improve overall sound reduction
  • AC95 Acoustic Sealant helps close perimeter gaps and weak points
  • Jointing Tape helps seal joints and improve airtightness

This makes the system ideal for reducing talking and TV noise through stud party walls.
