The NOR842 is a single-actuation automatic drop seal designed for retrofit installation to the side face of hinged acoustic glass doors with glass thickness greater than 6mm. It shares the same housing profile, actuation mechanism, and fixing method as the NOR840 and NOR841, but accommodates any glass thickness up to 6mm — making it the universal side-mount variant in the hinged glass door drop seal range, appropriate where the exact glass thickness does not match the NOR840 (8mm) or NOR841 (10mm) specific variants. The housing is bonded to the side face of the glass door leaf.

The NOR842 housing is manufactured from aluminium with a silicone gasket, supplied in silver anodised (C 0) or stainless steel-coloured anodised (C 31) finish. The housing profile is 14.6 × 44.5mm. Standard lengths are 708mm, 833mm, 958mm, 1083mm, and 1208mm, with a 125mm cutback. Single actuation. Bonded with adhesive (not supplied).

Applications

• Hinged acoustic glass doors — glass >6mm, side-glass mounting — bond to the side face of the hinged glass door leaf to seal the gap between the door bottom and the floor when the door is in the closed position. The NOR842 is appropriate where the glass thickness is not greater than 6mm but does not match the NOR840 (8mm) or NOR841 (10mm) specific variants, or where a single seal specification is required across doors of varying glass thickness within a project.
• Retrofit installation on existing hinged glass doorsets — the bonded fixing method allows the NOR842 to be installed on existing glass door leaves without drilling or screwing into the glass.

Installation

Select the appropriate seal length for the door leaf width, accounting for the 125mm cutback at the actuator end. Clean the side face of the glass door leaf thoroughly — the surface must be dry, grease-free, and free from contamination before bonding. Confirm the glass thickness is greater than 6mm. Apply a suitable structural adhesive (not supplied) to the housing and press it firmly onto the side face of the glass, ensuring correct alignment. Allow the adhesive to cure fully before operating the door.

Once cured, close the door and check that the actuator engages the door stop cleanly and the seal carrier drops to make full contact with the floor. Check that the carrier retracts fully on opening.
