Our Plus Timber Floor Soundproofing System – Bonded LVT is designed for timber floors where you're dealing with more noticeable noise and want a higher performance upgrade. Using two layers of 10kg MLV combined with SilentCork3 underlay and Mapei Ultrabond Eco VS90 Plus adhesive, this system helps reduce both airborne noise and impact noise from footfall, while remaining practical to install.

Designed for Louder Noise Through Timber Floors (Bonded LVT Finish)

This Plus system is a step up from our Essential tier and is intended for situations where you're dealing with louder airborne noise and/or more noticeable impact noise through a timber floor. This system is designed specifically for bonded LVT installations, using the correct underlay and adhesive for the floor finish.

The build-up consists of:

  • 2 layers of 10kg MLV (Soundproofing Mat), joints staggered
  • SilentCork3 Acoustic Underlay
  • Mapei Ultrabond Eco VS90 Plus Adhesive
  • Everbuild AC95 Acoustic Sealant
  • PVC Jointing Tape
  • High Strength Contact Adhesive

The finished build-up is approximately 13mm overall.

How the System Works

This system improves floor sound insulation by combining high mass and impact isolation:

  • Two layers of 10kg MLV add significantly more mass than standard matting, helping reduce louder airborne noise including voices, TV at higher volume, and general household noise
  • SilentCork3 Acoustic Underlay reduces impact noise and improves acoustic comfort under bonded LVT, and provides a suitable bonding surface compatible with the Mapei VS90 adhesive system
  • Mapei Ultrabond Eco VS90 Plus Adhesive is used to bond the LVT correctly to the SilentCork3 layer as per manufacturer guidance
  • AC95 Acoustic Sealant seals perimeter gaps and weak points to maintain airtightness
  • Jointing Tape seals MLV joints to prevent sound leakage at seams

Installation Summary 

Installation involves:

  1. Preparing the floor surface so it is clean, dry, and free from debris
  2. Installing the first layer of 10kg MLV
  3. Installing the second layer of 10kg MLV, staggering joints where possible
  4. Sealing joints as required and applying Jointing Tape
  5. Sealing perimeter gaps with AC95 Acoustic Sealant where required
  6. Installing SilentCork3 underlay Using Mapei VS90 as required for a correct bonded LVT installation
