The Rytons Super Acoustic Controllable LookRyt AirCore is a retro-fit core ventilator designed for installation through a 125mm diameter core-drilled hole in a solid or cavity wall, providing controlled background ventilation with high acoustic attenuation. Unlike the AirLiner sets which fit standard ventilator brick openings, the LookRyt AirCore is installed through a circular core-drilled hole, making it suitable for retrofit installation in existing walls where no ventilator opening is present and where forming a standard ventilator brick opening is not practical. The system includes a sound-attenuating sleeve with foam lining, a controllable draught-reducing panel on the internal face, and an external grille. The LookRyt internal panel can be painted or wallpapered to blend with the internal wall finish, making it visually unobtrusive once decorated.

The LookRyt AirCore achieves 43 dB sound reduction when open and 50 dB when closed, tested to BS EN 13141-1:2004. The 7 dB improvement when closed reflects the additional acoustic barrier provided by the draught-reducing panel when shut. Equivalent area is 8,500mm². Manufactured from UV-stabilised high-impact polystyrene with sound-absorbent foam lining. Available in Terracotta, Buff/Sand, and White.

Applications

• Retrofit background ventilation through solid or cavity walls — no ventilator brick opening required. Core-drill a 125mm diameter hole through the wall and install the LookRyt AirCore sleeve. This makes the system appropriate for retrofit installation in existing buildings where no ventilator opening is present and where forming a standard ventilator brick opening would require significant brickwork intervention. The 125mm core drill is a standard size available to most building contractors.
• High acoustic performance — 43 dB open, 50 dB closed. The LookRyt AirCore achieves higher acoustic performance than the AirLiner sets when closed (50 dB vs 38–42 dB), making it the appropriate specification for applications where maximum acoustic attenuation is required when the vent is not in use — for example, in bedrooms or home offices in high-noise environments.
• Controllable draught-reducing panel — occupant-controlled ventilation and acoustic performance. The internal draught-reducing panel can be opened for ventilation (43 dB) or closed to maximise acoustic attenuation (50 dB), allowing ventilation to be managed in response to external noise conditions.
• Paintable/wallpaperable LookRyt panel — visually unobtrusive internal finish. The LookRyt internal panel can be painted or wallpapered to match the internal wall finish, making the ventilator visually unobtrusive once decorated. Particularly appropriate for retrofit installations in finished rooms where a standard grille would be visually prominent.

Installation

Core-drill a 125mm diameter hole through the wall at the required position. Remove debris and ensure the hole is clean and free from loose material.

Insert the LookRyt AirCore sleeve through the hole from the external face. The sleeve should span the full wall thickness. Fix the external grille to the external face of the sleeve. Fix the LookRyt internal panel to the internal face of the sleeve.

Once the panel is in position, it can be painted or wallpapered to match the internal wall finish. Allow paint or wallpaper adhesive to dry fully before operating the controllable panel. Check that the controllable panel opens and closes freely and that the external grille is correctly seated and clear of debris.
