4" Class 0 Acoustic Foam Panel - 2ft by 4ft
The Advanced Acoustics Class '0' 4" is a 100mm acoustic foam panel manufactured from 90kg/m³ open-cell foam, measuring 2ft × 4ft (610mm × 1220mm). The panel achieves NRC 1.05 (Sound Absorption Class A) — the deepest and highest-rated panel in the Class '0' range. Each panel covers 0.74m² (8sqft). NRC values above 1.00 occur in standardised reverberation chamber testing as a result of edge diffraction effects, and are a recognised characteristic of deep, high-density absorbers tested under ISO 354 conditions.
The panel carries the same Class '0' fire classification as the rest of the range — meeting BS 476 Parts 6 and 7, C s1, d0 to EN 13501-1, UL94 V-0, and Class A to ASTM E84-95. Absorption at all measured frequencies exceeds 0.94: 0.94 at 250Hz, 1.14 at 500Hz, 1.02 at 1kHz, 1.10 at 2kHz, and 1.15 at 4kHz. Available unmounted or mounted to a 6mm MDF substrate. Available in Black. Manufactured in the UK.
Applications
Public buildings and commercial premises — Class '0' compliance at maximum depth and performance.
Where Class '0' compliance is required and the most thorough available acoustic treatment is the specification, the 4" panel is the appropriate choice. The 0.94 at 250Hz delivers the strongest low-frequency absorption in the Class '0' range — significantly above the 3" panel (0.73), the 2" panel (0.44), and the 1" panel (0.22) — addressing low-frequency reverberation in larger spaces where shallower Class '0' panels are acoustically insufficient. Suited to auditoria, large conference facilities, open-plan commercial environments, and public spaces where both regulatory compliance and the highest available acoustic performance are required. Use the Coverage Calculator to determine the number of panels required.
Professional facilities — Class '0' with maximum broadband absorption.
The 4" Class '0' panel is the appropriate specification for professional recording studios, broadcast facilities, and commercial post-production environments where Class '0' surface lining compliance is required alongside the most comprehensive available broadband treatment. The consistent performance across the full measured frequency range — 0.94 at 250Hz through 1.15 at 4kHz — delivers thorough acoustic control at all frequencies relevant to recording and listening environments.
Custom Class '0' fabric-wrapped panels — maximum depth specification.
The unmounted 4" Class '0' panel provides the highest available NRC within the Class '0' foam panel format for custom fabric-wrapped acoustic panel installations. The 100mm, 90kg/m³ foam core delivers NRC 1.05 behind an acoustically transparent open-weave fabric, making it the premium specification for compliant fabric panel installations where maximum performance is required. Custom sizes are available on request.
Product Benefits
NRC 1.05 / Sound Absorption Class A — maximum performance in the Class '0' range.
The 100mm foam core achieves NRC 1.05 (Class A), with absorption of 0.94 at 250Hz, 1.14 at 500Hz, 1.02 at 1000Hz, 1.10 at 2000Hz, and 1.15 at 4000Hz. The 0.94 at 250Hz is the strongest low-frequency result in the Class '0' range and provides meaningful absorption at a frequency where all thinner panels — including the 3" (0.73) — perform less effectively. As with all Class '0' panels, the NRC is lower than a standard polyurethane Acousti-Slab at equivalent depth due to the acoustic characteristics of the 90kg/m³ foam required for Class '0' compliance.
Class '0' fire classification — compliant with UK Building Regulations.
Fire Propagation Index less than 12 (BS 476 Part 6); Surface Spread of Flame Class 1 (BS 476 Part 7); Class '0' to Building Regulations 1991 (BS 476 Parts 6 and 7); C s1, d0 (EN 13501-1); UL94 V-0; Surface Burning Class A (ASTM E84-95). Suitable for use in public and commercial buildings where surface linings must comply with Class '0' under UK Building Regulations.
Unmounted and mounted-to-MDF formats.
The unmounted panel is bare foam suitable for direct adhesive fixing or trimming to size. The mounted panel is pre-fixed to a 6mm MDF substrate for wall hanging using mirror plates. Both formats are available in Black only.
Specification and compliance.
90kg/m³ foam density. Class '0' to BS 476 Parts 6 and 7; C s1, d0 to EN 13501-1. Panel size 610mm × 1220mm × 100mm (2ft × 4ft × 4"). 0.74m² (8sqft) coverage per panel. 5.6kg unmounted, 9.2kg mounted. Black. Custom sizes available on request. Manufactured in the UK and shipped uncompressed from stock.
Installation
Unmounted panels — adhesive fixing.
Apply Advanced Acoustics High Strength Contact Adhesive to both the back of the panel and the wall surface. Apply a band of adhesive around the perimeter and 50–75% coverage of the remaining surface area; repeat on the wall. Allow to become touch-dry before bringing surfaces together — contact adhesive bonds on contact, so position the panel carefully before pressing it to the wall. The adhesive is solvent-based; ensure adequate ventilation throughout installation.
Unmounted panels — demountable installation.
For a temporary or demountable installation, mount the panel onto 6mm MDF or plywood sheet and hang using D-rings and picture hooks. For ceiling-mounted panels, use four mirror plates per panel. This allows panels to be removed and repositioned without damage to the wall surface.
Mounted-to-MDF panels.
Fix mirror plates to the wall at the appropriate centres using suitable fixings for the wall substrate. Hang the panel on the mirror plates. The mounted panel can be removed and rehung without tools.
