Cloud9 60cm Ceiling Suspended Acoustic Panel | 600mm diameter | NRC 0.75 | Class C
The Advanced Acoustics Cloud9 60cm Ceiling Suspended Acoustic Panel is a circular acoustic panel from the Advanced Acoustics Designer Range, designed to hang from the ceiling on steel wire rope. The circular format provides a soft, organic form that reads clearly against the ceiling plane when suspended, and is suited to accent placements, smaller ceiling areas, and mixed-size cluster arrangements combining the 60cm, 80cm, and 100cm Cloud9 suspended formats. The panel consists of a 25mm open-cell acoustic foam core mounted on a rigid 6mm MDF backing board, wrapped in a 100% recycled open-weave polyester cloth available in 31 colours.
The Cloud9 60cm has a diameter of 600mm, providing 0.28m² of panel face area. The suspended format treats reverberation from both faces of the panel simultaneously, increasing the effective absorption per panel relative to a surface-mounted installation of the same size. Suspended panels are particularly suited to spaces with high or inaccessible ceilings where surface-mounted fixing is impractical, and to environments where the visual presence of suspended panels contributes to the interior design. The 25mm foam core achieves NRC 0.75 (Sound Absorption Class C), providing effective absorption of mid and high frequencies.
Please note that this product is made to order for your space, each product is crafted to your chosen specification from our wide range of options, with a lead time of 2–3 weeks. Suspension components (wire rope and loop clamps) are available separately.
Applications
- Suspended circular cloud installations. The Cloud9 60cm suspended panel is designed to be installed in multiples, hanging at varied heights to create a cloud or constellation arrangement below the ceiling surface. The circular format creates a soft, organic suspended installation that contrasts with the rectilinear geometry of the room. The compact 60cm diameter is suited to accent placements and as a fill panel in mixed-size suspended clusters with the 80cm and 100cm Cloud9 formats.
- High-ceiling spaces where surface fixing is impractical. Suspended panels are the appropriate specification for spaces with high, vaulted, or structurally complex ceilings where direct surface fixing is not feasible. Wire rope suspension allows panels to be hung at an appropriate height within the room, bringing acoustic absorption closer to the occupied zone where it is most effective.
- Open-plan offices — reverberation and echo control. Suspended panels treat reverberation from both faces simultaneously. The Cloud9's circular format integrates naturally into contemporary office interiors, providing acoustic absorption at the ceiling plane without the utilitarian appearance of standard rectangular panel grids.
- Hospitality and commercial interiors. The Cloud9's circular format and soft profile make it particularly suited to hospitality environments — restaurants, bars, hotel lobbies, and reception areas — where acoustic treatment is required alongside a premium interior finish. Suspended Cloud9 panels at varied heights create a dynamic, three-dimensional ceiling feature.
- Mixed-size Cloud9 suspended cluster arrangements. The 60cm panel fills the spaces between larger 80cm and 100cm Cloud9 suspended panels in organic, asymmetric compositions, creating varied scale and visual depth across the suspended installation.
Product Benefits
- NRC 0.75 — effective mid and high frequency absorption, both faces exposed. The 25mm foam core achieves NRC 0.75 (Sound Absorption Class C), with strong absorption from 500Hz upward: 0.65 at 500Hz, 0.94 at 1000Hz, 1.13 at 2000Hz, and 0.99 at 4000Hz. The suspended format exposes both panel faces to the room, increasing effective absorption relative to a surface-mounted installation. Low-frequency absorption is more limited (0.30 at 250Hz).
- Class '0' fire-rated construction — compliant for commercial use. The acoustic foam core is Class '0' rated to BS 476 Parts 6 and 7, and C s1, d0 to EN 13501-1, meeting commercial fire safety requirements for suspended acoustic treatment in offices, schools, and public buildings.
- 100% recycled open-weave polyester cloth — 31 colour options. The open-weave polyester cloth is produced from 100% recycled fibre, maintaining full acoustic transparency while providing a durable surface finish. Available in 31 colours — download the swatch card for the full range.
- Wire rope suspension — compatible with Advanced Acoustics suspension components. Designed for use with the Advanced Acoustics 1.5mm steel wire rope and loop clamp suspension components, available separately. Wire rope suspension allows panel height to be adjusted during installation and provides a clean, minimal fixing detail.
- 60cm diameter — most compact Cloud9 suspended format. At 600mm diameter and 0.28m² per panel face, the 60cm is the smallest and most versatile format in the Cloud9 suspended range, suited to accent placements and as a fill panel in mixed-size suspended cluster arrangements with the 80cm and 100cm formats.
- Handmade in the UK — consistent quality across every panel. All Designer Range panels are handmade in the Advanced Acoustics UK facility using consistent materials and construction methods, ensuring uniform acoustic performance and finish quality across every panel in an installation.
Installation
Plan the suspended cloud composition on paper or digitally before marking suspension points on the ceiling. Vary the height of panels to create a natural, three-dimensional arrangement. Ensure ceiling fixing points are located on solid ceiling structure or appropriate noggins — do not fix into plasterboard alone without appropriate cavity fixings. Check for concealed services (electrical cables, pipework) before drilling into the ceiling.
Determine the desired suspension height for each panel and cut the wire rope to the appropriate length, allowing for the loop clamp fixing at the ceiling and the panel attachment point. Thread the wire rope through the loop clamp and fix the clamp to the ceiling at the marked position. Attach the wire rope to the panel suspension fixing point and adjust the panel height as required before securing the wire rope in position.
For mixed-size Cloud9 suspended clusters, use a tape measure to set out the centre points of each panel accurately before installing any suspension points.
Frequently Asked Questions
What ceiling height is needed for suspended panels?
There is no minimum ceiling height requirement, but suspended panels work best in rooms where there is enough clearance between the suspended panel and head height to avoid the panel appearing too low. In a standard 2.4m ceiling, a suspension drop of 200–300mm positions the panel visually and acoustically without intruding on the usable space. The wire and clamps can be adjusted to any length to suit your ceiling height.
Are there complementary products to use alongside these panels?
For rooms where both echo control and visual impact are goals, the SoundControl rectangular panels and the Designer range (Cloud9, HexaPanel, Barracuda, and others) can be combined — rectangular panels for broad coverage, designer panels as focal points or accent pieces. All products are available in the same 31 fabric colours, allowing a coordinated scheme across both ranges. If the room also has a noise transmission problem — sound travelling through walls, floors, or ceiling to adjacent spaces — acoustic panels treat the reverberation within the room but do not address sound passage through the structure; that requires a separate soundproofing approach.
Can I see the fabric colours before I order?
A PDF swatch card showing all available fabric colours is available to download here. If you would like a physical fabric sample before committing to a colour, contact us and we will send one out. Given the 2–3 week lead time on all made-to-order panels, confirming the colour against your interior before ordering is worthwhile.
Will acoustic panels actually make a noticeable difference to our office?
In a hard-surfaced office with plasterboard walls, a solid ceiling, and a concrete or hard floor — the standard construction of most commercial fit-outs — reverberation times are typically well above the recommended level for speech intelligibility. Acoustic panels absorb the reflected energy that accumulates in those surfaces, reducing reverberation time and improving clarity. The result is a room where conversations are clearer, background noise feels less intrusive, and sustained concentration is easier. The improvement in a standard office environment is significant and immediately noticeable.
I need panels for a specific project date — can you accommodate a deadline?
Contact us before ordering with your required delivery date and we will confirm whether it is achievable. Lead times are typically 2–3 weeks, but where a project deadline is tight we will do our best to accommodate it. Get in touch and we'll help in any way we can.
