The NOR650 is an acoustic threshold plate from the Norsound 600 range, designed to provide both a level engagement surface for door bottom seals and an integrated acoustic seal at the door sill. Unlike the flat plate thresholds in the 600 range (NOR620, NOR625, NOR630), the NOR650 incorporates a rigid and flexible PVC gasket within the aluminium housing, which compresses against the door bottom seal or door leaf underside on closing to form a continuous acoustic seal at the sill. This makes the NOR650 a sealing threshold rather than a plain engagement plate — it contributes directly to the acoustic performance of the doorset assembly rather than simply providing a surface for the door bottom seal to engage against.

The NOR650 is manufactured from T6060 grade aluminium with a rigid and flexible PVC gasket, anodised to AA10 standard in satin silver with a grey gasket. The profile is 79mm wide × 14mm high. Available in standard lengths of 1000mm and 2100mm. Screw-fixed to the floor or sill substrate. Acoustically tested in accordance with BS EN ISO 10140-2. Complies with Approved Document M.

Applications

• Acoustic threshold sealing — integrated gasket at the door sill — install at the door sill where an integrated acoustic seal at the threshold is required in addition to a level engagement surface for the door bottom seal. The PVC gasket within the NOR650 housing compresses against the door bottom seal or door leaf underside on closing, forming a continuous seal at the sill that contributes directly to the acoustic performance of the doorset assembly. This makes the NOR650 the appropriate threshold specification where maximum acoustic performance at the sill is required, rather than a plain engagement plate.
• Use with Norsound door bottom seals — the NOR650 is designed to complement Norsound door bottom seals (NOR815, NOR820, NOR855) as part of a complete acoustic doorset assembly. The threshold provides the sill sealing element while the door bottom seal provides the door leaf sealing element, together forming a continuous acoustic barrier at the door bottom.
• Approved Document M compliant installations — the NOR650 profile complies with Approved Document M requirements for threshold accessibility, providing acoustic performance at the sill without creating an unacceptable trip hazard.

Installation

Measure the door opening width and select the appropriate length. Cut to length on site if required.

Position the NOR650 centrally across the door sill, aligned with the door leaf, with the PVC gasket facing upward toward the door leaf underside or door bottom seal. Mark and drill fixing holes. Countersink fixings flush with the threshold surface.

Close the door and verify that the door bottom seal or door leaf underside compresses the PVC gasket evenly across the full width of the threshold. The gasket should compress without the door being prevented from closing fully or engaging the latch. Adjust the threshold position if required to achieve consistent gasket compression.
