Advanced Acoustics 30" x 30" 2" S.E.A.M. Acoustic Studio Foam Tile Pack
The Advanced Acoustics S.E.A.M. 2" is a 50mm open-cell polyurethane acoustic foam tile with a plain face and 45-degree bevel cut on all four sides, measuring 762mm × 762mm (30" × 30"). The tile achieves NRC 0.95 (Sound Absorption Class B), providing high-performance broadband absorption across the mid and high frequency range. Each pack contains 6 tiles, covering 3.48m² (37.5sqft) of wall or ceiling surface.
Absorption: 0.51 at 250Hz, 1.10 at 500Hz, 1.12 at 1kHz, 1.09 at 2kHz, and 1.15 at 4kHz. The bevel cut on all four sides produces a defined joint line between tiles when installed edge to edge, giving a clean, finished appearance. Tiles can be installed in square or diamond orientations to suit the room design and can also be layered to improve performance even further. Available in Mid Grey and Dark Grey. Manufactured in the UK.
Applications
Professional recording studios and control rooms — Class B broadband treatment.
The S.E.A.M. 2" at NRC 0.95 (Class B) provides comprehensive broadband absorption from 500Hz upward, with the 1.10 at 500Hz delivering strong lower-mid frequency performance. The 30" × 30" format covers significant wall area per tile, making it efficient for treating the larger wall surfaces of professional studio environments. Install on primary reflection points — side walls, rear wall, and ceiling. Use the Coverage Calculator to determine the number of packs required.
Home studios and recording spaces — large-format Class B treatment.
The 30" × 30" format covers more wall area per tile than smaller formats, reducing the number of installation pieces required for a given treatment area. The flat-face bevelled profile produces a clean, minimal wall finish, and tiles can be installed in square or diamond orientations for visual variation. The NRC 0.95 performance controls flutter echo and reverberation across the primary recording frequency range.
Vocal booths and isolation rooms.
The S.E.A.M. 2" provides strong absorption from 500Hz through to 4kHz, covering the fundamental frequencies and harmonics most critical for vocal recording. The flat-face bevelled profile provides a refined finish suited to vocal booth installations.
Product Benefits
NRC 0.95 / Sound Absorption Class B — high-performance broadband absorption.
The 50mm foam core achieves NRC 0.95 (Class B), with absorption of 0.51 at 250Hz, 1.10 at 500Hz, 1.12 at 1000Hz, 1.09 at 2000Hz, and 1.15 at 4000Hz. The 1.10 at 500Hz delivers strong lower-mid frequency performance, making the S.E.A.M. 2" effective across a broad frequency range. Where stronger low-frequency absorption is required, the S.E.A.M. 3" (0.73 at 250Hz) and S.E.A.M. 4" (0.85 at 250Hz) provide progressively deeper treatment.
Bevel-cut profile — seamless joint, square or diamond layout.
The 45-degree bevel cut on all four sides produces a defined joint line between tiles when installed edge to edge, giving the installation a finished, intentional appearance. The square 30" × 30" format can be installed in square or diamond orientations to suit the room design. Consistent CNC-cut dimensions ensure accurate alignment without adjustment during installation.
Specification and compliance.
30kg/m³ foam density. Crib 5 and Schedule 1, Part 1 of the Furnishings and Furniture (Fire)(Safety) Regulations 1988 (amended 1989). Tile size 762mm × 762mm × 50mm (30" × 30" × 2"). 6 tiles per pack, 3.48m² (37.5sqft) coverage. Mid Grey and Dark Grey. Manufactured in the UK and shipped uncompressed from stock.
Installation
Plan the tile layout before beginning installation. Sketch the intended pattern on paper and mark the layout on the wall or ceiling surface using pencil, masking tape, or a laser level. Distribute tiles evenly across the treatment area rather than concentrating them in a single large cluster; even distribution provides more consistent absorption coverage across the room.
Apply Advanced Acoustics Contact Adhesive to both the back of the tile and the mounting surface. Apply a band of adhesive around the perimeter of the tile and 50–75% coverage of the remaining surface area; repeat the equivalent coverage on the wall. Allow the adhesive to become touch-dry before bringing the surfaces together — contact adhesive bonds on contact, so position the tile carefully before pressing it to the wall. Avoid overspray onto the tile face or surrounding wall surface; use masking tape on the wall to protect adjacent areas. If adhesive webbing contacts the tile face, allow it to dry fully before attempting to remove it — in most cases it can be peeled away cleanly once dry. The adhesive is solvent-based. Ensure adequate ventilation throughout the installation — keep doors and windows open.
For a temporary or demountable installation, mount tiles onto 6mm MDF or plywood sheet to create panels, then hang the panels using D-rings and picture hooks. For ceiling-mounted panels, use four mirror plates per panel. This approach allows panels to be removed and repositioned without damage to the wall or ceiling surface.
