2" SoundControl Wall Mounted Acoustic Panel 2ft × 3ft | 610 × 915mm | NRC 1.00 | Class A

The Advanced Acoustics 2" SoundControl Wall Mounted Acoustic Panel is a fabric-wrapped acoustic panel designed to provide broadband sound absorption in office, commercial, and educational environments. The panel consists of a 50mm Class '0' open-cell acoustic foam core wrapped in an open-weave polyester fabric, mounted on a rigid backing board. The increased foam depth relative to the 1" panel delivers significantly improved low-frequency absorption, making the 2" panel the appropriate specification where reverberation control is required across the full speech frequency range, including the 250Hz octave band.

The 2ft × 3ft (610 × 915mm) format provides 0.56m² of absorption per panel. The portrait format is well suited to wall areas between windows, doors, and partitions where a taller, narrower panel fits more naturally than a square format. The 2" thickness achieves NRC 1.00 (Sound Absorption Class A) — the highest absorption class — providing effective broadband absorption from 250Hz upward, appropriate for environments where both speech-frequency and low-frequency reverberation control is required.

Applications

  • Open-plan offices — broadband reverberation control. Install on walls to reduce reverberation time across the full speech frequency range. The 2" SoundControl provides strong absorption from 250Hz upward — including the low-mid frequencies that the 1" panel addresses less effectively — making it the appropriate specification for spaces where reverberation at lower speech frequencies is a contributing factor to poor acoustic conditions. The 2ft × 3ft format provides greater absorption per panel than the 2ft × 2ft, reducing the number of fixing points required to achieve the target coverage area.
  • Meeting rooms and conference spaces. In smaller enclosed rooms, reverberation across the full speech frequency range can significantly impair speech intelligibility, particularly in video conferencing applications. The 2" SoundControl Panel's Class A absorption rating makes it the preferred specification for meeting rooms and boardrooms where the highest level of acoustic treatment is required. The 2ft × 3ft portrait format is suited to wall sections between whiteboards, screens, and glazed partitions.
  • Targeted placement on tall wall sections. The 610 × 915mm format is suited to placement on taller wall sections where a square panel would leave significant untreated area above or below. The portrait orientation allows the panel to span a greater proportion of the wall height, improving broadband absorption efficiency in spaces with high ceilings.
  • Modular grid and pattern installations. The 2ft × 3ft format can be arranged in regular grids or combined with 2ft × 2ft and 2ft × 4ft panels to create varied visual compositions across a wall surface while achieving the required total absorption area.
  • Educational environments — classrooms and lecture spaces. The 2" SoundControl provides broadband absorption across the full speech frequency range, improving acoustic conditions for students in environments where low-frequency reverberation is a contributing factor to poor speech intelligibility.

Product Benefits

  • NRC 1.00 — Class A broadband absorption. The 2" (56mm) foam core achieves NRC 1.00 (Sound Absorption Class A), with strong absorption across the full speech frequency range: 0.61 at 250Hz, 1.03 at 500Hz, 1.16 at 1000Hz, 1.11 at 2000Hz, and 1.10 at 4000Hz. The significantly improved low-frequency performance at 250Hz (0.61 vs 0.30 for the 1" panel) makes the 2" panel the appropriate specification where low-mid frequency reverberation control is required alongside mid and high frequency absorption.
  • Class '0' fire-rated foam core — compliant for commercial use. The acoustic foam core is Class '0' rated to BS 476 Parts 6 and 7, and C s1, d0 to EN 13501-1, meeting commercial fire safety requirements for wall-mounted acoustic treatment in offices, schools, and public buildings. This fire classification is required for acoustic panels installed in commercial and public buildings in the UK and is a mandatory specification requirement for most commercial fit-out projects.
  • Open-weave polyester fabric wrap — 31 colour options, acoustic performance maintained across all colours. The open-weave polyester fabric allows sound to pass through to the foam core without significant attenuation, maintaining the full NRC 1.00 performance across the entire colour range. The fabric is soft to the touch, durable, and easy to maintain. Available in 31 colours — download the swatch card for the full range.
  • Three mounting options — Mirror Plate, D-Ring, or Button Fix. Supplied with mounting hardware. Mirror plate fixing provides a flush, secure wall mount suitable for permanent installations. D-ring fixing allows the panel to be hung from a picture rail or hook, suitable for installations where wall drilling is not permitted. Button Fix provides a tool-free demountable fixing, allowing panels to be removed and repositioned without tools — suitable for leased spaces or installations requiring periodic panel removal.
  • 2ft × 3ft portrait format — efficient coverage on tall wall sections. The 610 × 915mm format provides 0.56m² of absorption per panel — 50% more coverage than the 2ft × 2ft — making it an efficient choice where wall height allows and fewer fixing points are preferred.
  • Handmade in the UK — consistent quality across every panel. All SoundControl panels are handmade in the Advanced Acoustics UK facility using consistent materials and construction methods, ensuring uniform acoustic performance and finish quality across every panel in an installation.

Please note: All SoundControl panels are made to order with a 2–3 week lead time.

Installation

Mark the fixing positions on the wall using the panel dimensions as a guide. Ensure fixing positions are located on solid wall structure or appropriate noggins — do not fix into plasterboard alone without appropriate cavity fixings.

For mirror plate fixing: screw the mirror plate to the wall at the marked position using appropriate fixings for the wall construction, and hang the panel on the mirror plate. Check that the panel hangs level before finalising the fixing position.

For D-ring fixing: install appropriate hooks or picture rail at the marked height, ensuring the hooks are at the correct spacing to match the D-ring positions on the panel. Hang the panel and check for level.

For Button Fix: install the wall-side button fix receivers at the marked positions using appropriate fixings. Press the panel firmly onto the receivers until the button fix engages. To remove, pull the panel firmly away from the wall.

For grid installations, use a spirit level and spacers to ensure consistent alignment and equal spacing between panels across the wall surface. Mark all fixing positions before installing any panels to ensure the grid is correctly laid out.

How Many Panels Do You Need?

Use this quick calculator to see how many panels you'll need for your room. We'll also suggest a complementary ceiling panel to complete your acoustic treatment.

Please note: This calculator provides estimates only and is intended as a guide. Advanced Acoustics cannot be held responsible for purchases made based on these calculations. For a precise recommendation tailored to your specific room, please contact us at info@advancedacoustics-uk.com.

Our Acoustic Panels are very easy to install. They are supplied with either Button Fix, D-Rings or Mirror Plates. If you are going to mount the panels on the wall you can use either option. If you are mounting the panels on the ceiling you will need to use the Mirror Plate option. The only thing that isn’t supplied are the screws and plugs. The correct fixing method depends on whether you are fixing to plasterboard, brick or concrete. Check with an experienced tradesman if you aren’t sure what fixing method is best. The acoustic panels are relatively light so you will only need to use 30mm long screws to mount the panels with.

Mirror Plates

The panels are shipped with the mirror plates facing inwards to protect them during shipping. Before mounting the panels you will need to turn the plates around so that the mounting hole is exposed.

Offer up the panel in the location where you wish to fit it. Mark the wall with a pencil where the fixings need to go. Drill the holes with a suitable drill bit and insert the plugs. Offer up the panel again and fix into place with your choice of screws. Repeat until all panels are fitted.

D-Ring

The D-Rings allow you to mount the acoustic panels on the wall in the same way as you would a picture. You can either use picture hooks to hang the panels on or use a plug and screw if you prefer.

Button Fix

Button Fix is an extremely strong and very easy mounting method. We supply the Button Fix Clips plus suitable screws, Buttons and the Marker Tool in order for you to mount the acoustic panels with. The video below explains how to use them. We have found it easier, when completing our own installations, to mount the black clips to the back of the panels and the green buttons to the mounting surface.
