The Rytons Cowled Super Acoustic Controllable LookRyt AirCore is the cowled variant of the LookRyt AirCore 125mm Square, adding an external cowl for improved weather resistance at the external face. The cowl deflects wind-driven rain from the vent opening and introduces additional acoustic path length at the external face, improving open-position acoustic performance to 45 dB compared to 43 dB for the standard (non-cowled) variant. Closed performance is 50 dB — identical to the standard variant, as the draught-reducing panel provides the dominant acoustic barrier when closed regardless of the external cowl. Equivalent area is 8,400mm² — marginally less than the standard variant at 8,500mm², reflecting the cowl’s effect on the airflow path.
Manufactured from UV-stabilised high-impact polystyrene with sound-absorbent foam lining. The LookRyt internal panel can be painted or wallpapered. Available in Terracotta, Buff/Sand, and White.
Applications
- Retrofit background ventilation with improved weather resistance — exposed locations. The cowled variant is the appropriate specification for exposed wall faces, prevailing wind elevations, or locations where the standard flat external grille would be subject to wind-driven rain ingress. The cowl also improves open-position acoustic performance by 2 dB compared to the standard variant.
- Maximum acoustic performance when open — 45 dB. The cowled variant achieves 45 dB when open, the highest open-position acoustic performance in the Rytons range, making it the appropriate specification for applications where acoustic performance is required even when the vent is open for ventilation.

Installation
As the standard LookRyt AirCore — core-drill a 125mm diameter hole, insert the sleeve, fix the external cowl to the external face, and fix the LookRyt internal panel to the internal face. The cowl projects from the external wall face — confirm clearance from adjacent features before installation. The cowl opening should face downward to deflect rain — confirm correct orientation before fixing.
Once the panel is in position, it can be painted or wallpapered to match the internal wall finish. Check that the controllable panel opens and closes freely and that the cowl is correctly seated and clear of debris.
