Advanced Acoustics 3ft Wedge Bass Trap 12" x 12"
The Advanced Acoustics Wedge Corner Bass Trap 3ft is a 915mm open-cell polyurethane acoustic foam bass trap in a precision CNC-cut wedge profile, measuring 305mm × 305mm × 915mm (12" × 12" × 36"). The bass trap is designed for corner installation — vertical orientation in wall-wall corners and horizontal orientation in wall-ceiling corners — where low-frequency energy accumulates. The 3ft length is a modular unit that can be installed singly or stacked to build the required corner coverage.
Equivalent Absorption Area per object: 0.2 at 50Hz, 0.2 at 63Hz, 0.2 at 80Hz, 0.5 at 100Hz, 0.7 at 125Hz, and 0.9 at 160Hz. The additional length over the 2ft version delivers stronger low-frequency absorption at all measured frequencies — 0.9 at 160Hz versus 0.6 for the 2ft. The wedge profile matches the Wedge 12" tile family, allowing the bass trap to be installed alongside Wedge, Wedge PRO, Sawtooth, or Euphonic Wedge tiles for a coordinated acoustic treatment with a consistent visual finish across walls and corners. Available in Mid Grey and Dark Grey. Manufactured in the UK.
Applications
Professional recording studios and control rooms — corner low-frequency control.
The Wedge Corner Bass Trap 3ft addresses the low-frequency standing waves and bass build-up that wall and ceiling tiles do not effectively control. Install vertically in the wall-wall corners and horizontally in the wall-ceiling corners — the locations where low-frequency energy is greatest. The 3ft length is a modular unit: use a single trap where targeted treatment is required, or stack multiple traps to build the full corner coverage needed for the room. The 915mm length covers more of the corner per piece than the 2ft version, reducing the number of stacked modules required for a given corner height. Pair with Wedge family wall tiles for a coordinated treatment package. Use the Coverage Calculator tab at the top of the description to determine the number of bass traps required.
Rehearsal rooms and live rooms — low-frequency control.
Rehearsal and live rooms with significant low-frequency energy from bass instruments and drums benefit from the 3ft trap's stronger low-frequency absorption. The 0.9 at 160Hz and 0.7 at 125Hz address the low-frequency build-up that contributes to muddiness in musical performance, controlling the low-end energy that wall tiles leave unaddressed.
Coordinated treatment with Wedge family tiles.
The wedge profile of the bass trap matches the Wedge 12", Wedge PRO 12", Sawtooth 12", and Euphonic Wedge Standard tile families, allowing the bass trap to be installed as part of a coordinated acoustic treatment package with a consistent visual finish across walls and corners. The matching profile produces a unified aesthetic across the full installation.
Product Benefits
Corner low-frequency control — Equivalent Absorption Area 0.9 at 160Hz.
The Wedge Corner Bass Trap 3ft provides targeted absorption at the low frequencies that wall and ceiling tiles do not effectively address. Equivalent Absorption Area per object: 0.2 at 50Hz, 0.2 at 63Hz, 0.2 at 80Hz, 0.5 at 100Hz, 0.7 at 125Hz, and 0.9 at 160Hz. The additional length over the 2ft version delivers stronger absorption at all measured frequencies — 0.9 at 160Hz versus 0.6 for the 2ft, 0.7 at 125Hz versus 0.4. The 3ft is the appropriate specification where stronger low-frequency absorption is required or where full-height corner treatment is preferred.
Wedge profile — matching tile family aesthetic.
The CNC-cut wedge profile matches the Wedge tile family, producing a consistent visual finish when the bass trap is installed alongside Wedge, Wedge PRO, Sawtooth, or Euphonic Wedge wall tiles. The matching profile allows walls and corners to be treated as a coordinated acoustic and visual package.
Specification and compliance.
30kg/m³ foam density. Crib 5 and Schedule 1, Part 1 of the Furnishings and Furniture (Fire)(Safety) Regulations 1988 (amended 1989). Bass trap size 305mm × 305mm × 915mm (12" × 12" × 36"). 1.6kg per trap. Mid Grey and Dark Grey. Manufactured in the UK and shipped uncompressed from stock.
Installation
Install the Wedge Corner Bass Trap 3ft in the room corners — vertical orientation in the wall-wall corners and horizontal orientation in the wall-ceiling corners — where low-frequency energy accumulates. Fix using Advanced Acoustics Contact Adhesive applied to both the rear face of the trap and the corner surface. Allow the adhesive to become touch-dry before bringing the surfaces together — contact adhesive bonds on contact, so position the trap carefully before pressing it into the corner. Ensure adequate ventilation throughout installation — the adhesive is solvent-based.
Frequently Asked Questions
I can hear a pronounced bass resonance at certain frequencies — will bass traps fix this?
Bass traps reduce the amplitude of low-frequency standing waves and corner build-up — the most common cause of pronounced bass resonance at specific frequencies in small rooms. They will not eliminate room modes entirely, but effective corner coverage significantly reduces the severity of peaks and produces a more even bass response. The improvement is most noticeable in recording, mixing, and critical listening environments where accurate low-frequency monitoring is the goal.
My room has an irregular shape — does corner placement still apply?
Yes. Even in irregularly shaped rooms, low-frequency energy accumulates in the structural corners — where two walls meet and where walls meet the ceiling. The treatment principle applies regardless of room shape. Install the traps in those corners and the low-frequency absorption benefit remains.
What is the difference between the Wedge profile and the other bass trap profiles?
The profile — Wedge, Wave, Quadrant, Original — is primarily aesthetic. All bass traps in the Advanced Acoustics range are manufactured from the same 30kg/m³ open-cell polyurethane foam. Acoustic performance at equivalent sizes is comparable across profiles. Choose the profile that matches the wall tiles you are installing, or the one that suits the visual style of the room.
Can bass traps be installed without permanent adhesive?
Yes. For a non-permanent installation, mount the traps onto MDF backing panels and use D-rings or French cleats to hang them in the corners. This allows removal and repositioning without contact adhesive on the wall surfaces. For wall-ceiling corner traps, mirror plates are the recommended fixing method.
What if the low-frequency problem doesn't improve after installation?
All products carry a 30-day money-back guarantee. If the improvement is less than expected, the most common causes are insufficient coverage — too few traps or insufficient corner height treated — or untreated tri-corners where two walls meet the ceiling. Contact us with your room dimensions and we will advise on what coverage is required or click on the Coverage Calculator tab at the top of the description for help with calculating the correct coverage.
