The Advanced Acoustics Mel-Acoustic 25mm Ceiling Tile is a 25mm melamine acoustic foam panel mounted on 4mm MDF, measuring 595mm × 595mm — the standard suspended ceiling grid dimension. The tile achieves NRC 0.53 (Sound Absorption Class D), providing effective mid and high frequency absorption. Each pack contains 16 tiles, covering 5.76m² of ceiling surface.

The tile is designed to drop directly into an existing suspended ceiling grid in place of standard ceiling tiles. Manufactured from Basotect melamine foam — a halide-free, open-cell foam with a fine cell structure (130–200ppi) — the panel provides effective sound absorption without the surface irregularities of profiled polyurethane foam. The white finish is inherent to the melamine material, not a surface coating. Available in White. Manufactured in the UK.

Applications

Open-plan offices and commercial spaces — Class '0' suspended ceiling treatment.
The Mel-Acoustic 25mm Ceiling Tile drops directly into an existing standard suspended ceiling grid, providing acoustic treatment where Class '0' fire compliance is required under UK Building Regulations. Suited to open-plan offices, commercial premises, and public buildings where standard ceiling tiles provide insufficient absorption and the ceiling grid is already in place. The 5.76m² coverage per pack suits modular ceiling grid installations. Use the Coverage Calculator to determine the number of packs required.

Public buildings and regulated environments — Class '0' compliance.
UK Building Regulations require surface linings in circulation areas, corridors, and public spaces to achieve Class '0' to BS 476 Parts 6 and 7. The Mel-Acoustic Ceiling Tile meets this requirement alongside DIN 4102 B1, UL94 V-0, and EN 13501-1, making it suitable for ceiling treatment in public buildings, educational facilities, and healthcare environments where standard polyurethane acoustic foam cannot be specified.

Server rooms and plant spaces — fire-rated ceiling absorption.
Environments housing electrical equipment, servers, or mechanical plant typically require Class '0' surface linings under fire regulations. The Mel-Acoustic Ceiling Tile provides acoustic absorption in these environments where fire compliance is mandatory. The melamine foam is halide-free and does not emit toxic by-products when exposed to heat or flame.

Product Benefits

NRC 0.53 / Sound Absorption Class D — effective mid and high frequency absorption.
The 25mm melamine foam core achieves NRC 0.53 (Class D). Melamine foam provides efficient sound absorption per millimetre of depth — the fine open-cell structure absorbs effectively without the surface profiling required by polyurethane foam. The NRC is lower than a standard polyurethane ceiling tile at equivalent thickness due to the different acoustic characteristics of melamine foam, but the material delivers Class '0' fire compliance that standard acoustic foam cannot achieve.

Class '0' fire compliance — BS 476, DIN 4102 B1, UL94 V-0, EN 13501-1.
The tile carries comprehensive fire classifications: Class '0' to BS 476 Parts 6 and 7; B1 to DIN 4102; V-0 and HF-1 to UL94; and compliance with EN 13501-1. The halide-free melamine foam does not emit toxic by-products when exposed to heat or flame. This combination of classifications makes the tile suitable for ceiling treatment in public and commercial buildings where Class '0' compliance is mandatory under UK Building Regulations.

Melamine foam construction — durable and dimensionally stable.
Basotect melamine foam offers significantly better dimensional stability and chemical resistance than standard polyurethane acoustic foam. It is resistant to hydrolysis, alcohols, hydrocarbons, most organic solvents, and dilute acids and bases, with a continuous service temperature of 150°C. The panel is mounted on 4mm MDF for rigidity and finished in white — the colour inherent to the melamine material, not a surface coating.

Specification and compliance.
16kg/m³ melamine foam density. Class '0' to BS 476 Parts 6 and 7; B1 to DIN 4102; V-0, HF-1 to UL94; EN 13501-1. Tile size 595mm × 595mm × 29mm. 16 tiles per pack, 5.76m² coverage. White. Manufactured in the UK and shipped from stock.

Installation

The Mel-Acoustic 25mm Ceiling Tile is designed to drop directly into an existing standard suspended ceiling grid in place of the existing ceiling tiles. No adhesive is required; the tile is held in place by the grid. The panel is supplied mounted on 4mm MDF for rigidity. Verify the load capacity of the existing ceiling grid and wire supports before installation, and increase the number of wire supports where required to accommodate the tile weight.
