Advanced Acoustics 2" Acousti-Slab Acoustic Foam Treatment Panel
The Advanced Acoustics Acousti-Slab 2" is a 50mm open-cell polyurethane acoustic foam panel, measuring 2ft × 4ft (610mm × 1220mm). The panel achieves NRC 0.85 (Sound Absorption Class C), providing effective broadband absorption across the mid and high frequency range with strong low-mid performance. Each panel covers 0.74m² (8sqft). Available unmounted or mounted to a 6mm MDF substrate.
The unmounted panel can be fixed directly to the wall surface using contact adhesive, trimmed to size, or wrapped in open-weave fabric. The mounted panel is pre-fixed to 6mm MDF for wall hanging using mirror plates. Absorption is strong and consistent from 500Hz upward: 0.45 at 250Hz, 0.94 at 500Hz, 0.98 at 1kHz, 1.02 at 2kHz, and 1.08 at 4kHz. Available in Mid Grey and Dark Grey. Manufactured in the UK.
Applications
Recording studios and home studios — broadband treatment.
The 2" Acousti-Slab at NRC 0.85 provides effective absorption across the full mid and high frequency range, addressing both the high-frequency flutter echo and the lower-mid reverberation that 25mm panels leave partially uncorrected. The 0.45 at 250Hz delivers meaningful absorption at the low end of the mid-frequency range — more than double the 1" panel (0.20 at 250Hz) — making the 2" the appropriate specification where low-mid reverberation alongside high-frequency flutter echo is the acoustic problem. The consistent flat response from 500Hz upward — 0.94 through to 1.08 — makes this the more thorough panel across the recording frequency range. Vocal booths and isolation rooms.
The 2" Acousti-Slab provides high-performance absorption across the full vocal recording range — 0.94 at 500Hz rising consistently through 1kHz, 2kHz, and 4kHz — reducing coloration across both the fundamental frequencies and harmonics of the voice. The stronger 250Hz performance relative to the 1" panel helps control the low-frequency build-up common in small enclosed spaces, producing a cleaner, more neutral acoustic environment for vocal capture.
Custom acoustic installations — fabric wrapping and bespoke sizing.
The unmounted 2" Acousti-Slab is the base material for custom fabric-wrapped acoustic panels where higher performance than a 25mm core is required. The additional depth delivers NRC 0.85 behind any acoustically transparent open-weave fabric, making the 2" the preferred specification for fabric panel installations in recording studios, post-production facilities, and commercial environments. The mounted format provides a rigid, repositionable panel without the use of contact adhesive. Both formats are available in Mid Grey and Dark Grey.

Installation
Unmounted panels — adhesive fixing.
Apply Advanced Acoustics High Strength Contact Adhesive to both the back of the panel and the wall surface. Apply a band of adhesive around the perimeter and 50–75% coverage of the remaining surface area; repeat on the wall. Allow to become touch-dry before bringing surfaces together — contact adhesive bonds on contact, so position the panel carefully before pressing it to the wall. The adhesive is solvent-based; ensure adequate ventilation throughout installation.
Unmounted panels — demountable installation.
For a temporary or demountable installation, mount the panel onto 6mm MDF or plywood sheet and hang using D-rings and picture hooks. For ceiling-mounted panels, use four mirror plates per panel. This allows panels to be removed and repositioned without damage to the wall surface.
Mounted-to-MDF panels.
Fix mirror plates to the wall at the appropriate centres using suitable fixings for the wall substrate. Hang the panel on the mirror plates. The mounted panel can be removed and rehung without tools.
