Cloud9 80cm Ceiling Mounted Acoustic Panel | 800mm diameter | NRC 0.75 | Class C
The Advanced Acoustics Cloud9 80cm Ceiling Mounted Acoustic Panel is a circular acoustic panel from the Advanced Acoustics Designer Range, designed to be fixed directly to the ceiling surface. The circular format provides a soft, organic contrast to the flat ceiling plane and is suited to standalone statement placements and mixed-size cluster arrangements combining the 60cm, 80cm, and 100cm Cloud9 ceiling formats. The panel consists of a 25mm open-cell acoustic foam core mounted on a rigid 6mm MDF backing board, wrapped in a 100% recycled open-weave polyester cloth available in 31 colours, with mirror plate fixings for direct ceiling attachment.
The Cloud9 80cm has a diameter of 800mm, providing 0.50m² of absorption per panel. The mid-size format sits between the compact 60cm and the large-format 100cm, making it the most versatile Cloud9 ceiling size for standalone installations and the anchor panel in mixed-size cluster arrangements. The 25mm foam core achieves NRC 0.75 (Sound Absorption Class C), providing effective absorption of mid and high frequencies appropriate for controlling speech-frequency reverberation in office and commercial environments.
Applications
- Standalone ceiling statement panels. The 80cm diameter is large enough to function as a standalone acoustic feature on the ceiling surface, providing 0.50m² of absorption per panel without requiring a cluster arrangement. A single 80cm Cloud9 ceiling panel makes an immediate visual impact while delivering meaningful acoustic absorption in smaller rooms and breakout spaces.
- Mixed-size Cloud9 ceiling cluster arrangements. The 80cm panel is the natural anchor format in mixed-size Cloud9 ceiling clusters, combining with 60cm panels to fill gaps and 100cm panels to create scale variation. Composed clusters of 60cm, 80cm, and 100cm panels across the ceiling surface create organic, asymmetric arrangements that scale from a small accent installation to a full feature ceiling.
- Open-plan offices — reverberation and echo control. Install on the ceiling to reduce reverberation time and improve speech intelligibility. The circular format integrates naturally into contemporary office interiors, providing acoustic absorption at the ceiling plane without the utilitarian appearance of standard rectangular panel grids.
- Meeting rooms and breakout spaces. The 80cm format is well suited to meeting rooms and breakout spaces where a small number of panels can provide meaningful absorption without dominating the ceiling surface. The circular profile and wide colour range allow the panels to complement the interior specification of the room.
- Hospitality and commercial interiors. The Cloud9's circular format and soft profile make it suited to hospitality environments — restaurants, bars, and hotel lobbies — where acoustic ceiling treatment is required alongside a designed interior finish.
Product Benefits
- NRC 0.75 — effective mid and high frequency absorption. The 25mm foam core achieves NRC 0.75 (Sound Absorption Class C), with strong absorption from 500Hz upward: 0.65 at 500Hz, 0.94 at 1000Hz, 1.13 at 2000Hz, and 0.99 at 4000Hz. Effective for controlling speech-frequency reverberation from the ceiling plane. Low-frequency absorption is more limited (0.30 at 250Hz).
- Class '0' fire-rated construction — compliant for commercial use. The acoustic foam core is Class '0' rated to BS 476 Parts 6 and 7, and C s1, d0 to EN 13501-1, meeting commercial fire safety requirements for ceiling-mounted acoustic treatment in offices, schools, and public buildings.
- 100% recycled open-weave polyester cloth — 31 colour options. The open-weave polyester cloth is produced from 100% recycled fibre, maintaining full acoustic transparency while providing a durable surface finish. Available in 31 colours — download the swatch card for the full range.
- Mirror plate ceiling fixing — supplied with hardware. Supplied with mirror plate fixing hardware for direct ceiling attachment. Mirror plate fixing provides a flush, secure ceiling mount suitable for permanent installations on solid ceiling structure or appropriate noggins.
- 80cm diameter — mid-size Cloud9 ceiling format, suited to standalone and mixed-size installations. At 800mm diameter and 0.50m² per panel, the 80cm is the mid-size format in the Cloud9 ceiling range — large enough to function as a standalone statement panel and versatile enough to anchor mixed-size cluster arrangements with the 60cm and 100cm ceiling formats.
- Handmade in the UK — consistent quality across every panel. All Designer Range panels are handmade in the Advanced Acoustics UK facility using consistent materials and construction methods, ensuring uniform acoustic performance and finish quality across every panel in an installation.
Please note: All Designer Range panels are made to order with a 2–3 week lead time.
Installation
Mark the fixing position on the ceiling using the panel diameter as a guide. Ensure fixing positions are located on solid ceiling structure or appropriate noggins — do not fix into plasterboard alone without appropriate cavity fixings. Check for concealed services (electrical cables, pipework) before drilling into the ceiling.
For mirror plate fixing: screw the mirror plate to the ceiling at the marked position using appropriate fixings for the ceiling construction, and attach the panel to the mirror plate. Check that the panel sits flush and level before finalising the fixing position.
For cluster arrangements combining multiple Cloud9 ceiling sizes, plan the composition on paper or digitally before marking fixing positions on the ceiling. Use a tape measure to set out the centre points of each panel accurately before drilling.
