Ceiling Soundproofing Products

Ceiling soundproofing products for reducing airborne and impact noise transmission through timber and concrete ceiling structures. The range covers every component of a ceiling assembly — decoupling systems (MuteClip XP, MuteClip LP, MuteClip, Resilient Bar), acoustic plasterboard, Mass Loaded Vinyl, and installation materials including AC95 Acoustic Sealant and PVC Jointing Tape.

Products are suitable for flat conversions, new build, and renovation projects, including applications requiring Part E compliance. Use the Complete Soundproofing System Calculators to identify the right system and quantities for your project Click Here.

Ceiling Soundproofing Products

  1. Decoupling systems — the primary method of reducing noise through a ceiling is to decouple the plasterboard surface from the structural substrate, preventing vibration from transmitting directly through the assembly. MuteClip XP and LP clip and channel systems provide the highest level of isolation; Resilient Bar is the entry-level single-part alternative for standard domestic applications.
  2. Acoustic plasterboard — Knauf Soundshield Plus (12.5mm and 15mm) is used as the finish layer in ceiling assemblies, adding mass to the structure to improve airborne sound reduction.
  3. Mass Loaded Vinyl — 5kg/m² and 10kg/m² MLV adds mass within the ceiling build-up to improve airborne sound reduction. Used between plasterboard layers or as a free-hanging barrier.
  4. Installation materials — AC95 Acoustic Sealant and PVC Jointing Tape are required in all ceiling assemblies to seal perimeter gaps and joints. Flanking paths are the most common cause of underperformance.
