Practical sustainability in acoustic treatment and soundproofing

At Advanced Acoustics, we believe sustainability should be practical, honest, and built into the way products are made.

Since 2004, we’ve focused on reducing waste, using recycled materials where suitable, and manufacturing durable acoustic products that are made to last. The result is a range of solutions that help customers improve acoustics and soundproofing performance while making more responsible product choices.

Our approach

We do not use sustainability as a buzzword. Our focus is on real, measurable actions:

  • using recycled materials in selected products
  • reducing manufacturing waste
  • recycling foam and packaging waste
  • manufacturing in the UK to help reduce transport impact
  • producing durable products that do not need frequent replacement

Products made with recycled materials

A number of our products include recycled content without compromising performance.

Terrac Rubber Underlay

Our Terrac Rubber Underlay contains recycled material that would otherwise go to waste. It delivers effective acoustic performance while helping to give existing materials a second life.

SilentCork3 Underlay

SilentCork3 is made using recycled cork granules. Cork is a renewable material, and by reusing cork content in production, we can improve its environmental value while still delivering strong impact sound insulation.

Mass Loaded Vinyl

Our Mass Loaded Vinyl soundproofing barrier includes recycled content and remains a high-performance solution for reducing sound transfer in walls, floors, and other building elements.

Reducing waste in manufacturing

Waste reduction is an important part of how we operate.

Foam recycling

Foam offcuts and production scrap are collected and recycled rather than simply being sent to landfill. This helps us reduce waste from day-to-day manufacturing.

Cardboard and packaging recycling

We recycle all cardboard packaging waste and work with recycling partners to make sure materials are handled responsibly wherever possible.

Efficient production methods

Our UK manufacturing process is designed to minimise unnecessary waste. Precision cutting and careful production planning help us reduce offcuts and make better use of raw materials.

Why durability matters

A product that lasts longer usually has a lower environmental impact than one that needs replacing quickly. That is why we focus on manufacturing quality products that are fit for purpose, reliable, and durable.

Longer-lasting acoustic treatment and soundproofing products can help reduce the material, manufacturing, and disposal impact associated with frequent replacement.

UK manufacturing and shorter supply chains

We manufacture in the UK, which helps us keep supply chains shorter and reduce the transport impact associated with imported alternatives. For many customers, this also means faster delivery, more reliable lead times, and easier access to product support when needed.

Performance and compliance

Sustainability should never come at the expense of safety or performance.

Fire safety

Our products meet relevant UK fire safety standards and building regulation requirements where applicable. We can also provide fire certification information for suitable products on request.

Acoustic performance

Our products are independently tested to verify acoustic performance, helping customers make informed decisions based on real data rather than marketing claims alone.

Regulatory confidence

Where relevant, our acoustic and soundproofing products are designed to support compliance with UK Building Regulations, including Part E requirements for sound insulation.

Why this matters for your project

Choosing more sustainable acoustic materials can help you:

  • reduce waste
  • specify products with recycled content
  • benefit from durable, long-lasting performance
  • source from a UK manufacturer
  • balance acoustic results with more responsible purchasing decisions
