1" SoundControl Ceiling Mounted Acoustic Panel 2ft × 4ft | 610 × 1220mm | NRC 0.75 | Class C

The Advanced Acoustics 1" SoundControl Ceiling Mounted Acoustic Panel is a fabric-wrapped acoustic panel designed to reduce reverberation and echo when fixed directly to the ceiling surface. The panel consists of a 31mm Class '0' open-cell acoustic foam core wrapped in an open-weave polyester fabric, mounted on a rigid backing board with mirror plate fixings for direct ceiling attachment. The fabric wrap is available in 31 colours.

The 2ft × 4ft (610 × 1220mm) format provides 0.74m² of absorption per panel — the largest format in the 1" SoundControl ceiling range. The format is suited to ceiling installations where maximum absorption per panel is required, reducing the total number of panels and fixing points needed to achieve the target ceiling coverage area. The 1" thickness achieves NRC 0.75 (Sound Absorption Class C), providing effective absorption of mid and high frequencies appropriate for speech intelligibility improvement in offices, meeting rooms, and educational environments.

Applications

• Ceiling treatment to complement wall-mounted panels. Ceiling-mounted panels extend acoustic treatment into the ceiling plane, increasing total absorption coverage in spaces where wall area is insufficient to achieve the required reverberation reduction on its own. The 2ft × 4ft format maximises absorption per panel, making it the most efficient format for achieving large ceiling coverage areas with fewer fixing points.
• Open-plan offices — reverberation and echo control. In open-plan environments, sound energy reflects off hard ceiling surfaces and contributes significantly to the overall reverberation time of the space. Ceiling-mounted panels absorb this reflected energy directly at the ceiling plane. The 2ft × 4ft format is suited to row arrangements along the length of larger open-plan spaces, providing maximum coverage per row of panels.
• Meeting rooms and conference spaces. In smaller enclosed rooms, ceiling treatment is particularly effective because the ceiling is a large, unobstructed reflective surface. The 2ft × 4ft format is suited to larger meeting rooms and boardrooms where the ceiling area can accommodate the longer panel dimension, reducing the number of panels required to treat the ceiling.
• Spaces with limited wall area. The ceiling-mounted format is the appropriate specification for spaces where wall surfaces are largely occupied by windows, glazed partitions, whiteboards, or shelving, leaving insufficient unobstructed wall area for effective wall-mounted panel coverage.
• Educational environments — classrooms and lecture spaces. The 2ft × 4ft format is suited to row arrangements across the ceiling of larger classrooms and lecture theatres, providing maximum coverage per row and reducing the total number of panels and fixing points required.

Product Benefits

• NRC 0.75 — effective mid and high frequency absorption. The 1" (31mm) foam core achieves NRC 0.75 (Sound Absorption Class C), with strong absorption from 500Hz upward: 0.65 at 500Hz, 0.94 at 1000Hz, 1.13 at 2000Hz, and 0.99 at 4000Hz. Effective for controlling speech-frequency reverberation. Low-frequency absorption is more limited (0.30 at 250Hz); where low-frequency control is also required, the 2" SoundControl Ceiling Mounted panel (NRC 1.00) is the appropriate specification.
• Class '0' fire-rated foam core — compliant for commercial use. The acoustic foam core is Class '0' rated to BS 476 Parts 6 and 7, and C s1, d0 to EN 13501-1, meeting commercial fire safety requirements for ceiling-mounted acoustic treatment in offices, schools, and public buildings.
• Open-weave polyester fabric wrap — 31 colour options. • 2ft × 4ft format — maximum ceiling coverage per panel. At 0.74m² per panel, the 2ft × 4ft is the largest format in the 1" SoundControl ceiling range, providing the most absorption per fixing point and the most efficient coverage for large ceiling areas.
• Handmade in the UK — consistent quality across every panel. All SoundControl panels are handmade in the Advanced Acoustics UK facility using consistent materials and construction methods, ensuring uniform acoustic performance and finish quality across every panel in an installation.

Installation

Mark the fixing positions on the ceiling using the panel dimensions as a guide. Ensure fixing positions are located on solid ceiling structure or appropriate noggins — do not fix into plasterboard alone without appropriate cavity fixings. Check for concealed services (electrical cables, pipework) before drilling into the ceiling. Due to the panel size, two people are recommended for installation.

For mirror plate fixing: screw the mirror plate to the ceiling at the marked position using appropriate fixings for the ceiling construction, and attach the panel to the mirror plate. Check that the panel sits flush and level before finalising the fixing position.

For grid installations, use a chalk line or laser level to ensure consistent alignment and equal spacing between panels across the ceiling surface. Mark all fixing positions before installing any panels to ensure the grid is correctly laid out.
