Advanced Acoustics Drum Isolation Kit 8ft x 8ft

The Advanced Acoustics Drum Kit Isolation Pad Kit (8ft × 8ft) contains 10 precision  cut foam isolation risers, each measuring 1200mm × 100mm × 50mm (48" × 4" × 2"), designed to form the vibration-isolating base layer of a drum platform. The risers are placed on the floor and a 25mm plywood or MDF board is laid across them to form the finished platform — the board, carpet, and drum kit are not supplied with this kit.

The foam risers decouple the platform from the floor structure, reducing the transmission of drum impact vibration and airborne noise to adjacent rooms and floors below. The foam is rated at 250N hardness, providing a firm, load-bearing base capable of supporting the full weight of a drum kit and drummer. The kit creates a maximum platform size of 2.4m × 2.4m (8ft × 8ft). Available in Black. Manufactured in the UK.

What's Included

10 × Foam Isolation Risers — 1200mm × 100mm × 50mm (48" × 4" × 2") each. High load-bearing 250N foam, Black. Place on the floor in a grid pattern to form the riser base; lay a 25mm plywood or MDF board across the risers to create the platform surface.

Not included: Platform board (25mm plywood or MDF), carpet, and drum kit. If you require a complete kit with boards and adhesive supplied, see the Drum Kit Isolation Kit PRO — 8ft × 8ft.

Applications

Recording studios and rehearsal rooms — drum kit isolation platform.
The drum kit isolation platform decouples the drum kit from the floor structure, reducing the impact vibration and low-frequency noise transmitted to adjacent rooms and floors below during performance and recording. The foam risers absorb the impact energy before it reaches the floor, significantly reducing the vibration that travels through the building structure. The platform suits recording studios, home studios, rehearsal rooms, and live rooms where drum isolation is required for larger drum kit footprints.

Smaller platforms — use all 10 risers regardless of size.
If a platform smaller than the maximum 8ft × 8ft is required, all 10 risers must still be used to ensure proper weight distribution and structural support across the platform. Reducing the number of risers for a smaller platform compromises load distribution and isolation performance.

Product Benefits

Vibration-isolating riser base — 250N high load-bearing foam.
The 50mm foam risers provide the compliant layer between the platform board and the floor surface. The 250N foam hardness is specified to support the full weight of a drum kit and drummer without fully compressing — a fully compressed riser provides no isolation benefit. The 50mm depth provides sufficient compliance for effective decoupling of drum impact vibration from the floor structure.

Maximum platform size 2.4m × 2.4m (8ft × 8ft).
The 10-riser kit creates a maximum platform footprint of 2.4m × 2.4m — the largest standard platform size in the Advanced Acoustics drum isolation range. For a smaller 1.8m × 2.4m (6ft × 8ft) platform, the 8-riser kit is the appropriate specification. For a complete kit with platform boards, adhesive, and risers supplied together, see the Drum Kit Isolation Kit PRO range.

Installation

Position the foam isolation risers on the floor in a grid pattern across the intended platform area, spacing them evenly to provide consistent support across the full platform footprint. Use all risers regardless of the platform size required — reducing the number of risers compromises load distribution and isolation performance.

Apply Advanced Acoustics Contact Adhesive to the top face of each riser and the underside of the 25mm plywood or MDF platform board at the corresponding contact points. Allow the adhesive to become touch-dry before bringing the surfaces together — contact adhesive bonds on contact, so position the board carefully before pressing it down onto the risers. The risers sit on the floor without adhesive to the floor surface; only the riser-to-board joint is bonded. The adhesive is solvent-based — ensure adequate ventilation throughout installation.

Top the platform with carpet if required to protect the board surface and prevent the drum kit from sliding — carpet is not supplied. Platform board (25mm plywood or MDF) and carpet are not supplied.

Platform Sizing & Usage

This kit is designed to create a maximum platform size of 8ft x 8ft. If you require a smaller platform, you must still use all 10 strips to ensure proper support and weight distribution for your drum kit and yourself.

Frequently Asked Questions

My neighbour complains about the vibration and thud from my drums — will this solve it?

The platform directly addresses floor-transmitted impact vibration — the structural thud that travels through joists and floors into the room below. If the complaint is specifically about the physical sensation of vibration and low-frequency impact, the platform is the appropriate solution. If the complaint is about hearing the full sound of the kit through walls or ceiling — the crack of the snare, the crash of cymbals — that is airborne noise, which the platform does not address. Most drum complaints involve both; the platform solves the floor transmission component.

Is this suitable for an upstairs room?

Yes — the platform is designed specifically for upper-floor installations where impact transmission to the floor below is the problem. Ensure the floor structure can support the combined weight of the platform, drum kit, and drummer before installation. For older timber floors where structural capacity is in question, confirm with a builder before proceeding.

What is the difference between this kit and the PRO version?

This kit supplies the foam isolation risers only — you source the platform board (25mm plywood or MDF) locally. The PRO version includes risers, SilentBoard platform boards, and contact adhesive in a single purchase. If sourcing board locally is straightforward, this kit is the more economical option. If you want everything in one order, the PRO removes that step.

How disruptive is installation?

Non-invasive — no fixings into the floor, no structural work. Position the risers across the floor area, bond the platform board to the risers using contact adhesive, and top with carpet if required. A two-person job for positioning the board; otherwise manageable solo. Installation takes a few hours including adhesive cure time.

What if it doesn't reduce the vibration enough?

All products carry a 30-day money-back guarantee. If the result is insufficient, the most common cause is vibration transmitting through walls or door frames in direct contact with the floor — flanking paths that the platform alone cannot address. Contact us and we will advise on what may be contributing to the remaining transmission.

Please note: MDF, Carpet and Drum Kit is NOT included in this kit.
Included in the kit are 10x platform strips to sit the platform on. With this kit you need to purchase your own sheet material separately. We would recommend that you use 25mm Ply or MDF. The kit will build a platform sized 2.4m x 2.4m. If you’d prefer to create a smaller platform this is perfectly fine, however you will still need to use the full complement of platform strips for adequate weight support. If using the full size of platform you will need to glue the foam strips to the backside of the boards with a 475mm gap between each strip. If using less you boards you will need to calculate the correct gap between each strips so that they are distributed evenly.

We would recommend that you begin by laying the platform you have sourced out on the floor upside down. Next lay the platform strips in place on the platform making sure that the 2.4m edges of the platform and the edge of the strips are flush. The strips should be placed so that they are 100mm wide and 50mm tall. The strips may be slightly long but they can be compressed to fit the board it required. Once you have laid all the strips out and they are evenly distributed you can now glue the strips to the boards using our contact adhesive (not supplied). If the platform is make up of two or more boards you will need to fix them together so that they don’t come apart.

Once all the strips are glued in place you can now flip the platform over so that it is strip side down, board side up. The platform is now ready to use. If you wish you can fit carpet on top of the platform or our Silent Floor Ultra for that extra level of impact noise reduction, followed by carpet.
