Advanced Acoustics Column2 1ft x 2ft Acoustic Foam Treatment Panel
The Advanced Acoustics Column2 is a 150mm open-cell polyurethane acoustic foam panel in a precision CNC-cut semi-circular profile, measuring 305mm × 610mm (1ft × 2ft). The semi-circular cross-section — a half-cylinder attached flat side to the wall — gives the Column2 a curved surface area of 0.29m² per panel against a wall footprint of 0.18m², increasing effective acoustic surface area by approximately 57% relative to a flat panel of the same footprint.
At 150mm, the Column2 is the deepest foam panel in the Advanced Acoustics range, providing substantially stronger low-frequency absorption than flat slab panels. The 150mm depth places it firmly in the high-performance tier for low-frequency treatment. Available in Mid Grey and Dark Grey. Manufactured in the UK.
Applications
Recording studios and home studios — deep low-frequency treatment.
At 150mm depth, the Column2 provides low-frequency absorption that flat 25–100mm panels cannot match. The additional foam depth begins to address the low-frequency room modes and bass build-up that are the most difficult acoustic problems to treat with standard panel depths. Install at primary reflection points and in corners where low-frequency energy accumulates. The semi-circular profile creates a visually distinctive wall installation that differs significantly from standard flat panel treatment.
Corners and edges — curved profile for architectural integration.
The semi-circular cross-section suits installations at wall junctions and edges where the curved face integrates naturally with the geometry of the room. Columns can be installed vertically along wall-ceiling junctions or wall-wall corners, treating the surfaces most prone to low-frequency bass build-up while creating a structured, intentional visual feature.
Custom and statement acoustic installations.
The Column2 profile is well suited to acoustic installations where visual impact is a consideration alongside performance. The curved semi-circular face is distinctive from flat slab and profiled tile formats, and panels can be wrapped in open-weave fabric to create finished fabric column panels in any colour. Panels can be combined with flat Acousti-Slab panels or 12" tiles to create mixed-format wall treatments.
Product Benefits
150mm depth — deep low-frequency absorption.
The 150mm foam depth is the greatest of any panel in the Advanced Acoustics range. Foam absorption effectiveness increases with depth at lower frequencies — a 150mm panel addresses frequency ranges that 25–100mm flat panels treat partially or not at all. The Column2 is appropriate where deep broadband absorption, particularly at low-mid frequencies, is the primary acoustic requirement.
Semi-circular profile — increased surface area, distinctive visual result.
The CNC-cut semi-circular cross-section gives the Column2 a curved surface area approximately 57% greater than its wall footprint, providing more acoustic surface per unit of wall space than a flat panel of equivalent dimensions. The profile produces a three-dimensional column form on the wall surface — visually distinct from flat panel and tile formats — and can be fabric-wrapped for a finished appearance.
Specification and compliance.
30kg/m³ foam density. Crib 5 and Schedule 1, Part 1 of the Furnishings and Furniture (Fire)(Safety) Regulations 1988 (amended 1989). Panel size 305mm × 610mm × 150mm (1ft × 2ft × 6"). 0.18m² (2sqft) footprint per panel. Mid Grey and Dark Grey. Manufactured in the UK and shipped uncompressed from stock.
Installation
Apply Advanced Acoustics High Strength Contact Adhesive to the flat rear face of the panel and the wall surface. Apply a band of adhesive around the perimeter of the flat face and 50–75% coverage of the remaining surface area; repeat on the wall. Allow to become touch-dry before bringing surfaces together — contact adhesive bonds on contact, so position the panel carefully before pressing it to the wall. The adhesive is solvent-based; ensure adequate ventilation throughout installation.
For a demountable installation, fix D-rings to the flat rear face of the panel and hang from picture hooks. This allows panels to be removed and repositioned without damage to the wall surface.
