Tegular 2" Suspended Ceiling Tile — NRC 0.95, Class B
The Tegular 2" is a 50mm open-cell polyurethane acoustic foam tile with a plain face and 45-degree bevel cut on all four sides, measuring 595mm × 595mm. The tile achieves NRC 0.95 (Sound Absorption Class B), providing high-performance broadband absorption across the mid and high frequency range. Each pack contains 6 tiles covering 2.16m² of ceiling surface. Absorption: 0.51 at 250Hz, 1.01 at 500Hz, 1.12 at 1kHz, 1.09 at 2kHz, and 1.15 at 4kHz. The 1.01 at 500Hz delivers strong lower-mid frequency performance. The tile is suited to recording studios where Class B broadband absorption is required at the ceiling plane and the suspended grid is already in place.
Tegular 3" Suspended Ceiling Tile — NRC 0.95, Class A
The Tegular 3" is a 75mm open-cell polyurethane acoustic foam tile with a plain face and 45-degree bevel cut on all four sides, measuring 595mm × 595mm. The tile achieves NRC 0.95 (Sound Absorption Class A), providing high-performance broadband absorption with strong low-mid performance. Each pack contains 6 tiles covering 2.16m² of ceiling surface. Absorption: 0.73 at 250Hz, 0.98 at 500Hz, 1.05 at 1kHz, 1.13 at 2kHz, and 1.13 at 4kHz. The additional depth over the 2" version moves the tile up to Class A as a result of the improved low-frequency performance — 0.73 at 250Hz versus 0.51 for the 2". The tile is suited to environments where low-mid frequency absorption at the ceiling plane is part of the acoustic requirement.
Mel-Acoustic 25mm White Melamine Ceiling Tile — NRC 0.53, Class '0' Fire Rated
The Mel-Acoustic 25mm is a 25mm melamine acoustic foam panel mounted on 4mm MDF, measuring 595mm × 595mm. The tile achieves NRC 0.53 (Sound Absorption Class D), providing effective mid and high frequency absorption. Each pack contains 16 tiles covering 5.76m² of ceiling surface. Manufactured from Basotect melamine foam, the tile carries the Class '0' fire classification under UK Building Regulations — meeting BS 476 Parts 6 and 7, DIN 4102 B1, UL94 V-0, and EN 13501-1. The tile is the appropriate specification for public buildings, commercial premises, educational facilities, healthcare environments, and server rooms where Class '0' fire compliance is mandatory and standard polyurethane acoustic foam cannot be specified.
Drop-in Suspended Ceiling Format
All three tiles measure 595mm × 595mm — the standard suspended ceiling grid module — and are designed to drop directly into an existing suspended ceiling grid in place of standard ceiling tiles. No structural modification to the ceiling is required. The tiles are compatible with 15mm and 24mm wide ceiling grids. No adhesive is required for installation; the tile is held in place by the grid. The Tegular profile extends through the grid for enhanced performance. Verify the load capacity of the existing ceiling grid and wire supports before installation, and increase the number of wire supports where required to accommodate the tile weight.
Choosing Between Tiles
Tile selection is determined by two decisions: acoustic performance and fire compliance. Where Class B or Class A broadband absorption is required and standard Crib 5 fire compliance is sufficient, the Tegular 2" or Tegular 3" is the appropriate specification — the 3" delivering Class A performance with stronger low-frequency absorption at greater depth. Where Class '0' fire compliance is mandatory under UK Building Regulations, the Mel-Acoustic 25mm White Melamine is the appropriate specification, delivering effective mid and high frequency absorption alongside full Class '0' fire compliance. Construction and Compliance
The Tegular 2" and Tegular 3" are manufactured from 30kg/m³ open-cell polyurethane acoustic foam, precision CNC cut, meeting Crib 5 and Schedule 1, Part 1 of the Furnishings and Furniture (Fire)(Safety) Regulations 1988 (amended 1989). The Mel-Acoustic 25mm is manufactured from 16kg/m³ Basotect melamine foam meeting Class '0' to BS 476 Parts 6 and 7, B1 to DIN 4102, V-0 and HF-1 to UL94, and EN 13501-1. All tiles measure 595mm × 595mm and are compatible with 15mm and 24mm wide suspended ceiling grids. Manufactured in the Advanced Acoustics UK facility and shipped uncompressed from stock. Available in Mid Grey and Dark Grey for the Tegular range; White for the Mel-Acoustic range.
