Reduce TV Noise and Voices Through Brick Party Walls

Our Plus Brick Wall Soundproofing System is a simple and effective way to reduce airborne noise such as TV sound, voices and general household noise through existing brick party walls. Using one layer of M20 Soundproofing Mat and two layers of 15mm Acoustic Plasterboard, it provides a high-mass soundproofing upgrade with a relatively slim overall build-up.

To make things easier, our online calculator does all the hard work for you by working out the quantities required for your project, with an additional 5% already allowed for waste, helping ensure you have everything needed to complete the installation. Please note that we do not supply the plasterboard, which can be sourced easily from most local builders merchants.

This system is ideal where you want a straightforward upgrade with a relatively slim build-up and a simpler installation method than more advanced independent wall systems.

The build-up consists of:

Together, these materials add mass and improve the wall’s ability to resist airborne sound transmission. The finished system has an overall thickness of approximately 55mm.

How the System Works

This system improves sound insulation by adding high-mass soundproofing materials directly to the existing wall surface.

  • The M20 Soundproofing Mat adds dense mass to help block airborne noise
  • The two layers of 15mm Acoustic Plasterboard further increase mass and improve overall sound reduction
  • Acoustic sealant helps close perimeter gaps and weak points
  • Jointing tape helps create a more complete sealed layer

This makes the system a good option for upgrading a party wall where the main issue is voices, TV noise, and other airborne sound.

Installation Summary

Installation involves:

  1. Preparing the wall so it is clean, dry, sound, and free from defects
  2. Bonding the M20 Soundproofing Mat directly to the wall using contact adhesive
  3. Sealing perimeter gaps and any joints with AC95 Acoustic Sealant
  4. Applying Jointing Tape across the mat joints
  5. Installing the first layer of 15mm Acoustic Plasterboard
  6. Sealing gaps again
  7. Installing the second layer of 15mm Acoustic Plasterboard, with staggered joints where possible
