SoundControl Ceiling Suspended Panels — 1" Foam Depth | NRC 0.75 | Class C
The 1" SoundControl ceiling-suspended panels use a 25mm open-cell acoustic foam core achieving NRC 0.75 (Sound Absorption Class C), with strong absorption from 500Hz upward: 0.65 at 500Hz, 0.94 at 1000Hz, 1.13 at 2000Hz, and 0.99 at 4000Hz. Low-frequency absorption is more limited (0.30 at 250Hz). The suspended format exposes both panel faces to the room, increasing effective absorption relative to a surface-mounted installation of the same size. Available in three sizes: 2ft × 2ft (610 × 610mm), 2ft × 3ft (610 × 915mm), and 2ft × 4ft (610 × 1220mm).
SoundControl Ceiling Suspended Panels — 2" Foam Depth | NRC 1.00 | Class A
The 2" SoundControl ceiling-suspended panels use a 50mm open-cell acoustic foam core achieving NRC 1.00 (Sound Absorption Class A) — the highest absorption class — with strong broadband performance: 0.61 at 250Hz, 1.03 at 500Hz, 1.16 at 1000Hz, 1.11 at 2000Hz, and 1.10 at 4000Hz. The significantly improved low-frequency performance at 250Hz (0.61 vs 0.30 for the 1" panel) makes the 2" panel the appropriate specification where broadband reverberation control — including low-mid frequencies — is required. The suspended format further increases effective absorption by exposing both panel faces to the room. Available in three sizes: 2ft × 2ft, 2ft × 3ft, and 2ft × 4ft.
Designer Range Ceiling Suspended Panels — NRC 0.75 | Class C
The Designer Range ceiling-suspended panels use the same 25mm foam core and open-weave polyester cloth construction as the SoundControl range, achieving NRC 0.75 (Sound Absorption Class C), but in shaped and circular profiles that create three-dimensional acoustic installations below the ceiling surface. The range includes the Cloud9 circular panels (60cm, 80cm, and 100cm diameter) and the Barracuda scale-profile panel (800 × 770mm). Panels can be hung at varied heights to create organic, three-dimensional cloud and shoal compositions suited to hospitality, commercial, and high-ceiling office environments.
Suspension Components
All ceiling-suspended panels are designed for use with the Advanced Acoustics 1.5mm steel wire rope and loop clamp suspension components, available separately in this collection. Wire rope suspension allows panel height to be adjusted during installation and provides a clean, minimal fixing detail suited to both the SoundControl and Designer Range suspended panels. Ensure ceiling fixing points are located on solid ceiling structure or appropriate noggins before installation.
Ceiling Suspended vs Ceiling Mounted
Ceiling-suspended panels treat reverberation from both faces simultaneously, making them more efficient per panel than surface-mounted equivalents in open-plan and high-ceiling environments. They are the appropriate specification for spaces with high, vaulted, or structurally complex ceilings where direct surface fixing is not feasible, and for environments where the visual presence of suspended panels contributes to the interior design. For spaces with accessible ceilings where surface fixing is practical, the ceiling-mounted range provides the same panel formats fixed flush to the ceiling surface.
Construction and Compliance
All ceiling-suspended panels use a Class '0' fire-rated open-cell acoustic foam core (BS 476 Parts 6 and 7; C s1, d0 to EN 13501-1), mounted on a rigid MDF or backing board substrate and wrapped in a 100% recycled open-weave polyester cloth. The open-weave fabric maintains full acoustic transparency across all 31 colour options. All panels are handmade to order in the Advanced Acoustics UK facility with a 2–3 week lead time. Suspension components are sold separately.
