Reduce TV Noise and Voices Through Brick Party Walls

Our Plus Brick Wall Soundproofing System is a simple and effective way to reduce airborne noise such as TV sound, voices, and general household noise through existing brick party walls. Using one layer of M20 Soundproofing Mat and two layers of 15mm Acoustic Plasterboard, it provides a high-mass soundproofing upgrade with a relatively slim overall build-up.

To make things easier, our online calculator works out the quantities required for your project, with an additional 5% already allowed for waste.

The build-up consists of:

  • 1 layer of M20 Soundproofing Mat bonded to the existing wall
  • 2 layers of 15mm Acoustic Plasterboard, joints staggered
  • High Strength Contact Adhesive
  • Everbuild AC95 Acoustic Sealant
  • PVC Jointing Tape

The finished build-up is approximately 55mm overall from the existing wall face.

How the System Works

This system improves sound insulation by adding high-mass soundproofing materials directly to the existing wall surface:

  • M20 Soundproofing Mat adds dense mass to help block airborne noise, bonded directly to the existing wall
  • Two layers of 15mm Acoustic Plasterboard further increase mass and improve overall sound reduction, with staggered joints and a finish-ready surface
  • AC95 Acoustic Sealant seals perimeter gaps and weak points to maintain airtightness
  • Jointing Tape seals mat joints to prevent sound leakage at seams

This makes the system a good option for upgrading a brick party wall where the main issue is voices, TV noise, and other everyday airborne sound.

What We Supply

The system calculator works out the estimated quantities required for the soundproofing materials we supply, including:

  • M20 Soundproofing Mat — 1 layer
  • 15mm Acoustic Plasterboard - 2 layers
  • High Strength Contact Adhesive
  • AC95 Acoustic Sealant
  • PVC Jointing Tape

We also include an additional 5% allowance for waste in the calculated quantities.

Key Benefits

  • Effective everyday noise reduction for stud party walls — dual 5kg MLV layers and dual acoustic plasterboard combine to add significant mass to an existing plastered stud wall, helping reduce TV noise, conversation, and general neighbour noise
  • Two layers of 5kg MLV for added mass — bonded directly to the existing wall with staggered joints, adding dense mass to help reduce airborne sound transmission through the wall structure
  • Two layers of 15mm Acoustic Plasterboard — applied over the MLV with staggered joints to further increase mass and improve overall sound reduction, providing a finish-ready surface
  • Direct-bonded system — no frame or fixings required — the system is bonded directly to the existing plastered stud wall using contact adhesive, keeping the installation straightforward and the build-up slim relative to the performance level
  • Suitable for existing plastered stud walls — designed to be applied to an existing sound, plastered stud wall surface without structural alteration
  • DIY-friendly installation — no specialist tools or frame construction required; suitable for competent DIYers comfortable with plasterboard work
  • Built-in 5% waste allowance — calculator quantities include a 5% overage to reduce the risk of under-ordering on site

Important Notes

  • This system is designed to be fixed to an existing plastered brick or solid wall
  • It is intended primarily for airborne sound reduction
  • Acoustic plasterboard is not included or supplied by us
  • Sealant quantities are an approximation only and should be treated as a guide
  • The calculator is provided as a guide only, and final quantities should always be checked before ordering
  • Electrical sockets and switches should only be removed and reinstated by a qualified electrician

Installation Summary

Installation involves:

  1. Preparing the wall so it is clean, dry, sound, and free from defects
  2. Bonding the M20 Soundproofing Mat directly to the wall using contact adhesive
  3. Sealing perimeter gaps and any joints with AC95 Acoustic Sealant
  4. Applying Jointing Tape across the mat joints
  5. Installing the first layer of 15mm Acoustic Plasterboard
  6. Sealing gaps again
  7. Installing the second layer of 15mm Acoustic Plasterboard, with staggered joints where possible
  8. Applying a final perimeter seal before finishing
  9. The completed wall can then be skimmed or tape and jointed ready for decoration.
