MuteClip LP Acoustic Isolation Clip | 105 × 50 × 74mm

The MuteClip LP is a resilient isolation clip used to build a decoupled ceiling or wall frame. It mounts directly to the existing joist or structural substrate and accepts MuteClip Channel, which clips into the body of the clip to create a continuous, decoupled frame onto which plasterboard is fixed. Because the channel and plasterboard are isolated from the structure by the clip’s dual-density silicone pad, vibration from the structure above cannot travel directly into the ceiling below — reducing both impact and airborne sound transmission.

The LP (low profile) variant is designed for installations where ceiling height is at a premium. It achieves a ceiling drop of as little as 5mm — significantly less build-up than the XP variant — making it the preferred choice where headroom cannot be sacrificed. Sold individually. MuteClip Channel must be ordered separately and is required to complete the system.

Applications

• Acoustic dropped ceilings — low headroom installations — where ceiling height is restricted and the 65mm drop of the XP clip is not practical, the LP delivers the same decoupled frame system with a drop of as little as 5mm. Fix clips to the underside of joists or concrete soffit, click MuteClip Channel into the clips, and fix acoustic plasterboard to the channel.
• Timber separating floors — the decoupled frame prevents direct structural contact between the plasterboard and the substrate, reducing the transmission of impact noise from above (footfall, washing machines) and airborne noise (music, speech).
• Wall decoupling — the clip and channel system can also be used on walls to create a decoupled frame for acoustic plasterboard, reducing airborne sound transmission through party walls and separating walls.
• Part E compliance — the MuteClip LP system is compliant with Part E Building Regulations (England, Wales, Northern Ireland, and Republic of Ireland). Tested performance: 35dB impact sound reduction, 60dB airborne sound reduction.

Product Benefits

• As little as 5mm ceiling drop. The LP’s low-profile design minimises the reduction in ceiling height, making it the practical choice for rooms where headroom is limited and the XP’s larger drop is not acceptable.
• Dual-density silicone isolation pad. The silicone pad surrounds the fixing point and buffers the metal clip from the substrate, preventing vibration from bridging directly through the fixing into the frame. Without isolation at the fixing point, structural contact is maintained and performance is significantly reduced.

• Clips into MuteClip Channel — no specialist tools required. The channel clicks directly into the clip body. Standard plasterboard fixing methods apply once the frame is in place.

Installation

Fix MuteClip LP clips to the underside of joists or structural substrate at the centres specified in the installation guide. Click MuteClip Channel into the clips to form the decoupled frame. Fix acoustic plasterboard to the channel using appropriate fixings — do not allow the plasterboard or any other element to make direct contact with the surrounding structure, as this will create a sound bridge and reduce performance. Seal all perimeter gaps with AC95 Acoustic Sealant.
