MuteClip XP Acoustic Isolation Resilient Bar System

• Acoustic dropped ceilings — concrete and timber — fix clips to the underside of joists at the specified centres, click MuteClip Channel into the clips, and fix plasterboard to the channel. The decoupled frame prevents direct structural contact between the plasterboard and the substrate, reducing the transmission of impact noise from above (footfall, washing machines) and airborne noise (music, speech).
• Uneven joist correction — the XP clip’s 65mm drop range allows the channel to be set to a consistent level across joists of varying depth or alignment, eliminating the need for packing or additional framing.
• Wall decoupling — the clip and channel system can also be used on walls to create a decoupled frame for acoustic plasterboard, reducing airborne sound transmission through party walls and separating walls.

• Dual-density silicone isolation pad. The silicone pad surrounds the fixing point and buffers the metal clip from the substrate, preventing vibration from bridging directly through the fixing into the frame. This is the critical element of the decoupling system — without isolation at the fixing point, structural contact is maintained and performance is significantly reduced.

Fix MuteClip XP clips to the underside of joists or structural substrate at the centres specified in the installation guide. Click MuteClip Channel into the clips to form the decoupled frame. Fix acoustic plasterboard to the channel using appropriate fixings — do not allow the plasterboard or any other element to make direct contact with the surrounding structure, as this will create a sound bridge and reduce performance. Seal all perimeter gaps with AC95 Acoustic Sealant.

Is XP an acoustic upgrade over standard MuteClip?

Do not choose XP on the assumption that its name means greater noise reduction in every installation. Its extended arrangement is particularly relevant where ceiling alignment or a larger drop is needed. Select the clip for the complete construction detail and supported performance data.

My ceiling joists are uneven. Can XP help without building another frame?

The MuteClip XP provides adjustment for a ceiling drop of up to 65mm, making it an option for bringing the channel to a consistent level. Check the actual variation across the joists before ordering so it falls within the intended arrangement.

Does the stated drop include the finished plasterboard ceiling?

Do not use the clip’s drop figure as the finished ceiling-height allowance. The channel, plasterboard layers and finish also need to be accounted for. Check the full section before deciding whether you have enough headroom.

Can I use fewer clips if I choose XP?
