High Strength Contact Adhesive | Carton of 12 × 500ml Cans
High Strength Contact Adhesive is a solvent-based contact adhesive formulated for bonding acoustic materials to walls, floors, and ceilings. Based on a synthetic rubber/resin system with high solids and low solvent content, it produces a faster, stronger initial grab than conventional aerosol adhesives — making it well suited to overhead and vertical installations where the material needs to hold position immediately on contact.
The adhesive bonds to a wide range of substrates including acoustic foam, Mass Loaded Vinyl, MDF, timber, plasterboard, and metal. No mixing is required. Each 500ml can covers approximately 2.5–4m² when applied to both surfaces. This carton contains 12 cans, providing up to 48m² of coverage — suited to larger installations and trade use.

Applications
- Acoustic foam — walls and ceilings — apply to both the foam backing and the mounting surface, allow a short open time, then press firmly into position. The contact bond holds immediately, which is particularly useful for ceiling installations where the material cannot be supported while the adhesive cures.
- Mass Loaded Vinyl — use to bond MLV to timber, plasterboard, or masonry substrates as part of a wall or floor soundproofing assembly. Apply to both surfaces and allow to tack before pressing into position.
- Silent Floor Ultra and acoustic underlays — suitable for bonding acoustic matting and underlay products to timber, concrete and screed subfloors where a contact adhesive system is specified.
- General acoustic installation — suitable for bonding acoustic panels, baffles, and treatment materials to a wide range of interior surfaces in studios, plant rooms, and commercial spaces.
Product Benefits
- High solids / low solvent formula. The advanced synthetic rubber/resin system delivers a stronger, more aggressive bond than conventional aerosol cans, with faster initial grab and higher final bond strength.
- Bonds to a wide range of materials. Compatible with acoustic foam, MLV, MDF, timber, plasterboard, metal, and most common interior substrates. No primer required for most applications.
- No mixing required. Ready to use directly from the can. No preparation beyond ensuring surfaces are clean and dry.
- Up to 48m² coverage per carton. 12 × 500ml cans, each covering 2.5–4m² when applied to both surfaces. Suited to larger projects and trade use where buying in bulk reduces cost per m².
Installation
Ensure both surfaces are clean, dry, and free from dust and grease before application. Apply an even coat to both the mounting surface and the back of the material being bonded. Allow a short open time until the adhesive becomes tacky, then bring the two surfaces together and press firmly. Bond is immediate on contact — reposition before surfaces touch. Use in a well-ventilated area.
Frequently Asked Questions
I only need adhesive for one room — is the carton the right purchase?
The 12-can carton suits larger installations, trade use, and projects covering 36–48m² or more. For a single room treatment, the single can is available separately and is the more economical choice for smaller quantities. The carton offers the best cost per can for larger projects or where the adhesive will be used across multiple installations.
Will over-application damage the foam tiles?
Over-application will not damage the foam chemically, but applying too heavy a coat can cause adhesive to web across the tile face if it contacts the surface during installation. If webbing occurs, allow it to dry fully before attempting to remove — in most cases it peels away cleanly once dry. Apply the recommended coverage — a band around the perimeter and 50–75% of the centre — rather than a solid coat across the full surface.
What surfaces will it not bond reliably to?
The adhesive bonds reliably to acoustic foam, MLV, MDF, plywood, plasterboard, timber, metal, and most smooth masonry. It performs less reliably on dusty, oily, damp, or highly porous surfaces. For raw concrete or very porous masonry, apply a light prime coat and allow to dry before applying the bonding coat — this significantly improves the bond.
How long does the bond take to reach full strength?
Initial bond is immediate on contact once both surfaces have been allowed to tack. Full cure strength is reached within 24 hours. Avoid applying load or stress to the bond within the first 24 hours after installation.
What if tiles begin to fall after installation?
All products carry a 30-day money-back guarantee. Bond failure after correct installation is uncommon — where it does occur, the most frequent cause is that adhesive was applied to one surface only rather than both, or that surfaces were not clean and dry at the time of application.
